Reflection
This week we looked at presentation skills which was insightful and beneficial for me as I have a presentation coming up. We were provided with a comprehensive overview of the key components that make a presentation effective.
One of the most crucial points highlighted during the lecture was the importance of structuring the presentation logically. This resonated with me as I've often struggled with organising my thoughts coherently. Learning about the significance of creating a clear introduction, followed by a structured body and a concise conclusion, has significantly enhanced my understanding of how to convey information effectively.
Moreover, the lecture emphasised the significance of visual aids. Understanding the appropriate use of visuals, such as slides or graphics, can significantly enhance the audience's comprehension and engagement. This insight has inspired me to focus more on creating visually appealing and informative presentations.
Another crucial aspect I learned was the significance of body language and voice modulation. I realised that non-verbal communication plays a pivotal role in delivering a compelling presentation. The emphasis on maintaining eye contact, using gestures effectively, and varying tone and pace has prompted me to pay more attention to these aspects in my future presentations.
Overall, this lecture has provided me with a newfound appreciation for the intricacies of effective presentations. I am eager to implement these strategies in my future academic and professional endeavours, confident that they will significantly improve my presentation skills.
Project Development
I moved on in my project my doing some research into sustainable fashion and getting some statistics.
Research
Understanding the dynamics of sustainable shopping habits involves delving into various demographics and their preferences. Research indicates that millennials and Gen Z individuals exhibit a higher inclination toward sustainable shopping practices. This demographic prioritizes eco-friendly brands, emphasizing ethical production, responsible material sourcing, and environmental impact considerations before making a purchase decision.
Motivations driving sustainable shopping habits often revolve around environmental conservation, reducing carbon footprints, supporting ethical business practices, and advocating for animal welfare. Consumers seek brands and products that align with their values and principles. However, some individuals aspiring to shop sustainably encounter challenges in finding such products or brands. These obstacles may include limited availability, higher pricing compared to conventional products, insufficient information about sustainability, and inadequate access to eco-friendly stores.
As shopping patterns evolve with the proliferation of e-commerce and digital platforms, more consumers are seeking sustainable options online. They actively search for dedicated marketplaces or brands offering eco-conscious choices to simplify their shopping experiences. Sustainable shopping trends may differ based on regional preferences, with some consumers prioritizing locally made or sourced products to support small businesses and reduce transportation-related environmental impacts.
One common aspect among consumers aspiring to shop sustainably is the desire for educational resources and increased awareness. Many seek comprehensive information about sustainable practices, materials, certifications, and transparent disclosures from brands regarding their sustainability efforts and product impacts. Understanding these diverse perspectives and challenges provides valuable insights for developing solutions, such as apps or platforms, to bridge the gap between consumers aspiring to shop sustainably and the available options in the market.
Statistics
I was taken aback by the statistics I stumbled upon, and this revelation solidified my belief that my idea is undeniably needed within the industry.
My app aims to simplify finding sustainable fashion online by personalising shopping experiences and offering exclusively sustainable clothing options, eliminating the need for extensive searches or uncertainty about a product's sustainability.
