The lecture on service design provided a comprehensive overview of tools and methodologies aimed at improving the delivery of public services. We were introduced to a range of resources, including the Service Standard from GOV.UK and the NHS service standard, which outline best practices for creating and running public services. Additionally, the Service Design Tools website offers a collection of communication methods to support design processes, while "This is Service Design Doing" provides valuable insights into embedding service design thinking within organisations.

These resources could be incredibly beneficial for my project, which focuses on improving GP services through an app. By leveraging the Service Standard and NHS service standard, I can ensure that the app aligns with best practices in service delivery and meets the needs of healthcare users. The Service Design Tools website offers practical methods for dealing with complex design challenges, which can guide the development process and facilitate effective communication within the project team.

Furthermore, "This is Service Design Doing" provides a wealth of knowledge on implementing service design thinking, enabling me to change the way my team works and approach the project from a user-centred perspective. The method library offered by the platform contains 54 methods that can be applied to various stages of the project, from research and ideation to prototyping and testing. Additionally, resources such as "Good Services" and "Your Guide to Practical Experience Blueprinting" offer practical guidance and frameworks for service blueprinting, which can help me visualise and map out the user journey within the app.

Overall, the lecture on service design has equipped me with valuable tools and resources that I can apply to my project to create a more user-centric and effective solution for improving GP services. By incorporating best practices and methodologies from these resources, I can ensure that the app meets the needs of healthcare users and delivers a seamless and efficient user experience.
