Reflection

This week we looked at intellectual property which was a revelation for me, shedding light on a subject I hadn't delved into deeply before. Intellectual property, as I learned, encompasses a wide range of creations of the mind, such as inventions, literary and artistic works, designs, symbols, names, and images used in commerce. The lecturer emphasised the importance of understanding and protecting these creations, attributing rights and ownership to the individuals or entities that produce them.

Before the lecture, I had only a vague understanding of intellectual property, but I discovered several fascinating facts during the session. I learned that intellectual property rights are categorised into different types, including patents for inventions, copyrights for artistic and literary works, trademarks for logos and brands, and trade secrets for confidential information. The lecturer highlighted how these rights provide legal protection, encouraging innovation and creativity while safeguarding creators' rights.

Additionally, I found it intriguing to understand the significance of intellectual property in various industries. It's not merely about protecting ideas but also about fostering innovation and enabling creators to benefit from their creations. Learning about the balance between public interest and creators' rights, and the global frameworks like WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organisation) that help govern and harmonise these rights across countries, was eye-opening.

The lecture sparked my interest as it unveiled a world of legal protection and rights that I hadn't realised existed. I now appreciate how intellectual property plays a pivotal role in encouraging innovation, creativity, and the growth of businesses and industries. This newfound knowledge has encouraged me to explore further and understand how intellectual property influences various sectors, providing a framework for protecting ideas and fostering progress.

Tender Document Development

During this week, I progressed to designing my proposal document using Figma. To maintain consistency, I opted to align it with my established branding from my CV and portfolio. I utilised the same typeface, Montserrat, and adhered to the black-and-white colour scheme. Given its legal nature, I ensured a basic layout for the document.
