We also looked at the cultural shift of creativity to the USA and some famous art that came out of it. First of all the work of Herbert Bayer who was an Austrian and American graphic designer, painter, photographer, sculptor, art director, environmental and interior designer, and architect.
Bayer designed this poster for Kandinsky’s 60th birthday in 1926. This design is classic Bauhaus. He used a sans serif type that was slightly tilted to the left, which produces some kind of dynamic movement.
We also looked at Herbert Matter who was a Swiss-born American photographer and graphic designer known for his pioneering use of photomontage in commercial art. Matter's innovative and experimental work helped shape the vocabulary of 20th-century graphic design.
Herbert Matter design these swiss tourism poster and despite being made in the 1930’s i believe these are still very relevant and eye catching.
He also designed the magazine covers for Vogue in the 1940s
