Reflection

In this weeks lecture, we delved into two fundamental aspects of Garret's UX Design framework: content strategy and user personas. It was enlightening to explore these vital components that underpin the success of any user experience design.

The session began by dissecting the intricacies of content strategy, shedding light on its core principles. Understanding how to craft an effective content strategy is paramount in creating a meaningful and engaging user experience.

The in-depth exploration of user personas was equally enlightening. We not only comprehended the "why" behind their use but also gained practical insights into "how" they can be effectively applied in the design process. Learning the art of persona creation was a significant step towards tailoring our designs to the specific needs and preferences of our target audience.

As I reflect on today's lecture, I'm eager to put this newfound knowledge into practice. Our assignment was to craft two user personas for our autonomous vehicle project. We leveraged the assistance of ChatGPT to aid in generating the persona, which we then proceeded to design and fine-tune by editing the text to align with the project's objectives. This task presented an exciting opportunity to apply what we've learned.

I look forward to the creative process and the impact these personas can have on my project's success. This lecture has equipped me with valuable tools and perspectives that will undoubtedly shape my approach to UX design.

Wireframes

In my autonomous vehicle project, I progressed by creating content wireframes using Figma this week. I relied on my initial sketches as a reference, as they helped me establish the layout.

Once I had completed my content wireframes, I sought feedback from a family member who belonged to my target audience. Their input proved valuable as they pointed out several improvements, including incorporating fuel and oil life indicators on the home screen, enhancing the accessibility of the climate control slider, and increasing the size of certain icons for easier navigation. Prior to commencing digital development, I integrated these suggested modifications into my wireframes.

Digital Development

I proceeded to enhance these wireframes by incorporating colour, icons and applying final touches.

I experimented with various colour palettes for my dashboard, including purples and blues with vibrant accents. However, I discovered that these choices detracted from the accessibility aspect I intended to convey in my design. I opted for a colour palette consisting of black, grey, and white, to maintain a seamless and user-friendly design. I decided to choose blue as an accent colour because it instills a sense of calm and tranquility, alleviating passenger anxiety as they give up their control to technology. It also builds trust, and is easy to read. It looks high-tech and appeals to everyone, making for a positive experience.
