Reflection

The lecture this week on the use of storyboards in design, as well as site maps and content wireframes, was a highly informative session. It provided a comprehensive overview of essential tools and techniques in the field of design.

The discussion on storyboards highlighted the importance of visual storytelling in design projects. Storyboards are a powerful means of conveying ideas, capturing the user journey, and envisioning the user experience. Learning to create effective storyboards can greatly enhance the design process. During class, we were allotted time to collaborate in groups and create our own storyboards. To establish the sequence, we initially crafted a preliminary sketch before progressing to the final storyboard.

Site maps were another crucial topic. Understanding how to structure and organise the information within a website is fundamental to creating a user-friendly and intuitive digital experience. Site maps help designers plan the hierarchy of content and navigation, making it easier for users to find what they need. We were given the opportunity to construct sitemaps for our dashboard, which proved to be beneficial in visualising the complete content and structure of the dashboard.

Content wireframes were also addressed, emphasising the importance of content layout and presentation. Clear and well-structured content is essential for engaging and guiding users through a website. Learning to create content wireframes can greatly improve the overall user experience.

In conclusion, this lecture provided valuable insights into the practical aspects of design, equipping us with the knowledge and tools necessary for effective design projects. The concepts of storyboards, site maps, and content wireframes will undoubtedly prove to be instrumental in our design endeavours.

Autonomous Vehicle UI Development

To commence my UI design, I utilised my research findings to streamline the features I wanted to incorporate into my dashboard. I organised these in a mind map. Subsequently, I transitioned to sketching, which allowed me to outline the overall visual concept and determine how each feature would be presented. This process involved assessing the space required for each feature to effectively showcase vital information and facilitated the identification of screen grouping and layout for the dashboard.
