Reflection

This week initiated our exploration of our first, fairly open-ended brief, wherein we are tasked with independently crafting a brief through thorough research in the healthcare sector. The class generously provided us with numerous research resources, a gesture that greatly eased my initial apprehension about the brief. As we delved into examples and engaged in discussions about the topic, coupled with guidance on crafting effective briefs, my confidence in approaching this challenge increased.

Addressing different design models proved insightful, particularly in moments of feeling constrained by a specific model. The opportunity to research and identify the model that aligns best with my approach offered a valuable perspective and a sense of adaptability in design.

The comprehensive overview of UX Design, coupled with practical exercises, served as a helpful reminder of the crucial considerations to incorporate into all my projects. This foundational understanding was established in the first week, setting a positive tone for subsequent endeavours.

Class Exercises

Utilising a Miro board, we individually defined UX and collaboratively crafted a combined definition in groups. This exercise fostered a shared understanding and promoted collaborative thinking.

We also explored the intersection between Apollo 13 and UX, identifying commonalities in problem-solving approaches. This analogy provided valuable insights into the iterative nature of UX design and its application in real-world challenges.

The compilation of IoT devices pertinent to healthcare expanded our awareness of technological advancements in the industry. This knowledge will likely influence our UX design decisions in the healthcare domain.

The group task involving healthcare research was pivotal, marking the commencement of our in-depth exploration. These exercises collectively laid a strong foundation for my research, instilling confidence and direction as I embark on this healthcare-focused design project.
