After delving into the world of typography and drawing inspiration from the sans serif typefaces prevalent in Apollo merchandise and missions, as well as the aesthetic of the movie Dune, I embarked on a search for the perfect typeface to complement my project. Exploring a variety of typefaces, I carefully evaluated each one's characteristics, considering factors such as legibility, style, and suitability for the narrative I aimed to convey.

As I sifted through different typefaces, I saved those that resonated with the vision I had for my project. Each typeface I considered had its own unique qualities and nuances, from classic elegance to modern simplicity.

In my quest for the perfect typeface for my project, I didn't just stop at browsing through various options—I took it a step further by typesetting a few contenders to see how they would fare in real-world scenarios. Among the typefaces I experimented with were Altivo, Variex OT, Gambado Sans, and Montserrat for body copy.

Variex OT immediately caught my attention with its unique and distinctive letterforms, exuding a sense of modernity and sophistication. Its sleek lines and geometric shapes lent a futuristic vibe that seemed fitting for my project's theme. However, upon typesetting it, I found that while it possessed an undeniable visual appeal, its legibility at smaller sizes left something to be desired, especially for extended passages of text.

Next, I turned to Gambado Sans, drawn to its clean and minimalist aesthetic. Its simple yet elegant design seemed to strike a balance between classic and contemporary, making it a strong contender for conveying the narrative of Apollo 11. As I typeset Gambado Sans, I was impressed by its readability and versatility, particularly when used for headings and titles. However, I felt that its lack of variety in weights and styles limited its adaptability for creating hierarchical text structures.

Among the contenders, one typeface stood out above the rest: Altivo. Its clean lines, geometric shapes, and balanced proportions immediately caught my eye, exuding a sleek yet approachable aesthetic that perfectly aligned with the futuristic theme of the project. The versatility of Altivo allowed it to seamlessly integrate into various design elements, from headings and titles to body text and captions, offering the flexibility needed to create hierarchy and emphasis within the text.

Ultimately, I made the decision to utilise Altivo not only for headings but also for body copy, ensuring a cohesive and visually impactful typography system. With Altivo as the cornerstone of my design, I aim to captivate audiences and immerse them in the narrative of Apollo 11, delivering a compelling and engaging experience across different devices and screen sizes.
