When initially mapping out the structure of my app and defining the user flow, I encountered some confusion. To simplify the process, I resorted to jotting down the flow of the app in sentence form, which helped to organise my thoughts and ideas. However, upon further research and watching tutorials on the topic, I came to the realisation that what I was creating was actually a site map rather than a user flow.

Understanding the distinction, I learned that a user flow pertains to the navigation within a specific section of the app, whereas a site map encompasses the entire flow of the app. Armed with this newfound knowledge, I quickly sketched out a site map and then transferred it to Figma to refine and organise the structure more effectively. This process allowed me to clarify the overall flow of the app and ensure a seamless user experience from start to finish.

Following the clarification between site maps and user flows, I shifted my focus to creating a user flow specifically tailored for the "booking an appointment" section of my app, which was the primary focus of the project brief.

This targeted approach allowed me to zoom in on the specific steps and interactions involved in the appointment booking process, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of user navigation and decision points within this critical aspect of the app.

Starting with the initial action of accessing the appointment booking feature, I delineated each sequential step, including entering symptoms, selecting an appointment type, selecting a preferred date and time, confirming the appointment, and receiving a confirmation notification.

Expanding upon each step, I considered various user scenarios, potential decision branches, and error-handling mechanisms to anticipate and address user needs comprehensively.

By meticulously mapping out the user flow for the appointment booking section, I aimed to create an intuitive and seamless experience that prioritised user convenience and efficiency, aligning closely with the overarching goal of streamlining GP services offered by the app.
