This study shows just how common injuries are across dance as a whole. It found that around 80% of dancers experience an injury each year, with an average of more than three injuries per person. The most common areas affected were the lower back, ankles and knees.
What this really highlights is that injury isn’t just something that happens occasionally, it’s something most dancers deal with regularly. That level of frequency suggests there’s a gap in how injuries are being prevented, not just treated.
