Choosing the right colour palette for my GP service app posed a significant challenge. I aimed to strike a balance between standing out in the market and maintaining accessibility and professionalism. After much deliberation, I settled on the colour blue for several compelling reasons.
Blue is often associated with trust, reliability, and professionalism, making it an ideal choice for a medical-related service. It instills a sense of calm and security, which aligns well with the reassurance patients seek when accessing healthcare services. Additionally, blue is a universally appealing colour that resonates well with a wide audience, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility.
To develop the colour palette, I utilised tools like coolers.com to explore various shades of blue and complementary colours. This allowed me to create a cohesive palette that not only captured the essence of the brand but also distinguished it from competitors. The monochromatic blue palette emerged as the frontrunner, conveying a sense of unity and coherence while retaining a professional demeanour.

After receiving valuable feedback suggesting the incorporation of another colour into the brand's palette, I embarked on a search to find the perfect hue that would complement the existing blue while infusing additional personality into the brand. After careful consideration, I settled on a vibrant coral shade, specifically #EF767A.
The decision to introduce coral into the colour scheme was strategic and multifaceted. Firstly, coral is a colour associated with warmth, energy, and friendliness, which perfectly aligns with the brand's aim to provide a welcoming and approachable experience for users seeking GP services. By introducing this lively hue, the brand instantly became more dynamic and engaging, resonating with a wider audience.
Moreover, coral serves as an excellent contrast to the calming and professional demeanour of blue. It injects a playful and modern twist into the brand's visual identity, creating a balanced juxtaposition between reliability and innovation. This balance is crucial for appealing to users across different demographics while maintaining a cohesive brand image.
Overall, the addition of coral to the colour palette was a strategic move that not only enhanced the brand's personality but also contributed to its visual appeal and versatility. It breathed new life into the brand while reinforcing its commitment to providing efficient and friendly GP services in a modern digital landscape.

Updated Colour Palette
During the development of my app, I encountered some accessibility challenges with the initial colour palette. Rushing into the design phase without considering crucial factors like contrast checking led to issues later on. When I finally conducted the assessment, it revealed that the coral colour and others from the palette failed to meet the A and AA contrast checks, prompting a necessary rethink of the colour scheme.

Keen on preserving the personality that the coral colour had infused into the brand, I explored various alternatives within a similar vein. Experimenting with different hues and shades of coral, as well as other colours like purple, orange, and green, became imperative.

Among the options considered, green emerged as the most suitable choice for several reasons. Firstly, green is often associated with health, growth, and harmony, which aligns seamlessly with the ethos of a GP service app focused on well-being and efficiency. Additionally, green boasts excellent contrast properties, making it accessible to a broader range of users and ensuring compliance with accessibility standards.
