Reflection

The branding lecture acted as a refresher on principles I had already explored, reinforcing my understanding of how a strong brand goes beyond visuals to create a cohesive identity. Drawing on ideas from Designing Brand Identity, it reiterated the importance of consistency, clear tone of voice, and differentiation from competitors. Revisiting the branding process from research and strategy through to identity design and touchpoints helped me reflect on my own approach and ensure I am applying these stages effectively. It also reinforced how all elements, including values, typography, colour, imagery, and messaging, must work together to create a recognisable and trustworthy experience. The example of Hope Meng highlighted how simplicity and consistency can strengthen a brand. Moving forward, this refresher has encouraged me to be more intentional with my branding, ensuring it remains consistent across all outputs and clearly communicates the product’s purpose and values.
